We are so excited that you are interested in joining Palmetto Forte. Here is what you need to know.
Visit
You are welcome to attend any of our rehearsals and check out our choir! Want to know what to expect? You will be invited to jump right in with vocal exercises and singing barbershop tags. When we move to repertoire rehearsal, we will partner you with someone in your voice part and you can participate to your comfort level. We suggest you choose 2-3 songs from our repertoire to practice before the next rehearsal. This will help test your barbershop skills and get you moving toward membership!
Audition
Once you feel comfortable with the barbershop style and confident about your commitment to Palmetto Forte, we encourage you to request an audition. Our leadership team will set up a time before or after rehearsal for an audition. You will:
- Sing alone: choose a short musical passage that shows us your best singing
- Sing in a quartet: select a current Palmetto Forte repertoire piece of your choice and the leadership team will fill in the other three parts while you sing
- Chat: we will outline our member expectations and answer any questions you may have
At the conclusion of the audition, we will recommend you for membership or recommend further rehearsal/coaching and a re-audition at a later date.

Woohoo! You made it through the “hard” part… Now it is time to enjoy the Palmetto Forte Family through fellowship and harmony! Become an official member of the:
- Barbershop Harmony Society – Carolinas District – Upstate Chapter
- Annual membership varies based on age and other details. Fees can be paid annually or divided into monthly payments
The chorus will then conduct an official welcome!
