We are a new choir, founded in 2022 Our members range in age from 7th grade to 40 years old. We sing a variety of four part a cappella music, with an emphasis on the barbershop style. Palmetto Forte attended our first Barbershop Convention on April 20, 2024 in Pinehurst, North Carolina and were honored to be named the Carolinas District Plateau A Champions! We can’t wait to go back next year!

Kayla Fernandes is in her third year as choral director at Mauldin High School. She first learned about barbershop when she attended Harmony University in summer of 2022 and has since enthusiastically jumped onto the barbershop train both personally and professionally. She is excited and honored to be serving as president and is looking forward to the opportunity to make music with new friends.

Amy Moyer has over 14 years of experience as a high school choral director. She experienced barbershop for the first time in 2019 at Harmony University and has been sharing the genre with her students ever since. She is looking forward to this new venture and being able to provide an opportunity for young adults to continue making great music after high school!

Haley Burton is in her fourth year as the choral director at Sevier Middle School. She has been a solo and choral singer most of her life but didn’t experience barbershop until she joined Palmetto Forte in 2022. She is looking forward to singing great music and making new friends along the way!

Nate Lueders is completing his first year as the band teacher at Landrum High School and Middle School. Nate discovered barbershop in 2019 and has been engaged in it since, recently becoming the Assistant Director of the Palmetto Statesmen, the Upstate South Carolina Men’s Chorus. Nate is excited to broaden his musical knowledge and capabilities with Palmetto Forte!
